From piracy to personal attacks the cyber crime is more rampant than ever. Most computer operating systems are updated frequently to patch their systems to avoid exploits and attacks but there are always new methods that are developed by the criminal hackers. There are also computer viruses that are spread through websites, emails and even instant messaging systems that are becoming more popular as both internet and computer distribution increases. All these cyber attacks are usually connected to financial profit for the attackers. For example, the frequent worm viruses are believed to net the acting criminals millions of dollars in profit, a temptation that many people fall into. Since the incentives are so tempting this fuels the development of criminal activities and it becomes important for a corporation to fight such development through dynamic security systems that can adapt to new forms of attacks.
A security consulting firm such as J.B. MacLean Consulting Inc. has become a necessary part of every corporation’s security measures. When you visit the J.B. MacLean website you can see that the website is constantly changing with additional contents and relevant news that everyone should be aware of. This type of change is exactly what is needed to ensure that your corporation is up to date on the latest security functions and also be knowledgeable of any potential vulnerability.
Most companies offer restricted access to the internet to all employees. This prevents the employees from spending idle time on non work related websites while making sure that they cannot access any dangerous websites that may infect your network system. The email system is also often restricted in the same fashion so that the company’s data can be secure. There are security functions that allow you to prevent internal file attachments from being viewed from the outside the network to prevent any leakage of important files. But even with such air-tight security systems there are always new type of exploits that are developed to penetrate such defensive measures. From packet sniffers that try to decrypt wireless data to simple key loggers, there are just so many types of attacks that you have to be aware of when it comes to cyber criminal activities.
The biggest danger comes from your data falling into the wrong hands. Internal and proprietary information being available to the rivals may lead to downfall of a company. There are plenty of hackers out there that try to get their hands on any type of data that they can since they can potentially be important, therefore valuable to someone out there. Although this is clearly illegal there are enough corrupt individuals and companies out there so that you have to vigilant in the protection of the intellectual property as much as a physical property.

Hiring a professional security consulting firm provides the necessary know-how in the field to protect your company. Being one step ahead of the criminals allows you to be well protected while providing the invaluable peace of mind as well. J.B.
